More about Bletchley Park
Previously home to the top-secret World War Two Codebreakers, Bletchley Park is now a dazzling heritage attraction. With hands-on experiences, workshops, and activities, you can immerse yourself into the birthplace of modern computing and visit as many times as you would like for the year after buying a regular entry ticket.
The mansion and grounds were originally constructed from 1883 onwards, and most famously became the house of the Government Code and Cypher School (GC&CS), which regularly decoded the secret communications during WW2 - an incredible achievement which helped to shorten the war by up to two years. Now open for daily visitors, Bletchley Park has become a highly popular attraction with a range of engaging exhibits and activities. Enjoy the scenic ground with an interactive multimedia guide and learn the story of the extraordinary men and women who made vital contributions to history.
One of the most eye-catching exhibits in the attraction is ‘The Intelligence Factory’. As you explore the self-guided tour, interactive screens will allow you to discover how Bletchley Park rapidly increased its multi-skilled workforce to around 9,000 during WW2. You can also learn how staff worked day and night to manage the intensifying demand for signals intelligence, as the team of decoders converted enemy communications into actionable data which helped to win the war.
There are a number of other exhibitions to observe when exploring Bletchley Park. ‘Early Days’ looks into the initial journey of the codebreakers, and why the site was chosen as the home for the GC&CS. ‘D-Day: Interception, Intelligence, Invasion’ is an engrossing cinematic experience delving into the role Bletchley Park played in D-Day. The specially commissioned film is projected onto a 22m screen, located in the restored Teleprinter building, where hundreds of thousands of intercepted messages first arrived in WW2.
